Tackling burnout in the founder journey.

This morning, we hosted our September Takeoff Tuesday session, which focused on burnout in the founder journey, featuring guest speaker psychologist Camilla Mustad. She provided insights into how burnout often arises in high-demand, low-control environments—a situation many founders and entrepreneurs face.

To better illustrate this, Camilla shared the five stages of burnout symptoms and discussed statistics on personal factors that affect susceptibility. Women aged 20-35 and those over 55 are more prone to burnout, while for men, the risk increases with age.

What can leaders do to help manage burnout within their teams? Camilla offered five practical strategies:

1️⃣ Encourage self-care through regular exercise, healthy eating, and sufficient sleep.

2️⃣ Promote mindfulness and relaxation techniques to manage stress.

3️⃣ Improve time management by helping to prioritize tasks.

4️⃣ Encourage seeking support from friends, family, and professionals.

5️⃣ Help team members learn to set boundaries and say no when necessary.
