Our portfolio company WSense has just signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HUB Ocean, an independent, non-profit foundation established by Aker and the World Economic Forum.
The goal is to drive innovation in ocean sustainability through advanced data integration and real-time undersea monitoring capabilities. The collaboration aims to leverage both organizations' technological expertise, enabling bi-directional data flow and co-developing standardized, scalable solutions for ocean environmental monitoring and reporting.
This MoU represents a significant milestone in advancing ocean sustainability by combining WSense’s expertise in underwater monitoring and HUB Ocean’s leadership in ocean data sharing and analytics.

The partnership will focus on two key areas:
- Technical Integration for Data Interoperability
The first area of collaboration involves assessing the technical integration between WSense’s Wcloud and HUB Ocean’s Ocean Data Platform (ODP). This integration aims to enable seamless, bi-directional data exchange between the two platforms, ensuring more industrial ocean data sharing and facilitating more comprehensive insights into ocean conditions.
- Joint Solutions
HUB Ocean and WSense will also work to co-develop joint solutions. This could include joint data deliveries to third-party clients, which focus on delivering holistic insights by combining WSense’s deep local data with HUB Ocean’s broad global data. It could also includerepeatable solutions for real-time ocean environmental monitoring.
